About this place
Stepping through the noren curtain at Tamura in Saiin is often driven by a craving for its midday seafood lineup. At lunchtime, the kitchen puts fresh fish front and center in set meals such as wild yellowtail and seared yokowa (young bluefin tuna) tataki or Saikyo-miso-marinated black cod. Between the rich, fatty yellowtail, flavorful seared tuna, and aromatic grilled fish, it makes a reassuring choice whenever you want a solid Japanese meal. The seafood range also extends to grilled atka mackerel, fried white fish and shrimp, and tuna negitoro rice bowls, supplemented by meat-based set meals such as chicken katsu and pork shabu-shabu salad.
The chicken katsu set is arranged to be enjoyed two ways, served with both savory sauce and refreshing grated daikon radish, giving diners plenty of range between crisp fried food and light boiled pork. In the evening, the restaurant operates as an izakaya centered on small plates and drinks, supported by a broad beverage list that includes Shirakaga umeshu, coarsely pureed aragoshi umeshu, Yamazaki 12-year whisky, various chuhai highballs, and wine. Counter seats, standard tables, and private rooms cater equally well to solo diners dropping in for a swift meal or groups lingering over drinks. Advance reservations and PayPay support make it an easy, practical dining choice in the neighborhood.
